Russell Spadaro received his Bachelors Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and his M.D. from Albany Medical College, in 1983 through a combined 6 year BS/MD program. In medical school Dr. Spadaro met Betsy Weisz, who was to become his wife and partner. While in Albany, Dr. Spadaro also did research on brain swelling in head trauma. From Albany he and Dr. Weisz moved to California for Pediatric Internship and Residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, from 1983 – 1986
Because of his strong interest in Pediatrics and Neurology, Dr. Spadaro then did a two year fellowship in Child Developmental at Children’s Hospital University Affiliated Program (at CHLA and USC), acquiring expertise in children with developmental and behavioral problems. In addition, he spent time working in the Children’s Hospital emergency room.
Dr. Spadaro worked at Hawthorn Community Medical Group in the San Fernando Valley for 5 years then spent 2 years at Briarwood Medical Group in Thousand Oaks, before joining North Oaks Pediatrics in 1993. He has been in the same location ever since, and was a founding member of Oak Tree Pediatrics and More when North Oaks Pediatrics disbanded in 2008.
Dr. Spadaro is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He lives in Thousand Oaks with his wife Dr. Betsy Weisz-Spadaro and his two daughters, Melanie, who is attending the University of California at Berkeley, and Nicole, who attends Westlake High School.
